Tangent360 have recently completed a fully featured virtual tour for a luxury property development in Liverpool.

The Crofton Estate, in Mossley Hill Liverpool, is a classic development of luxury apartments, mews and townhouses set in mature, beautifully landscaped grounds. The estate offers a relaxed lifestyle to residents who enjoy the benefits of this intimate community. Security gates, a car park, extensive lawns and gardens all designed and devloped to very high standard are just some of the features of this property.

We were contacted by an estate agency who are marketing some of the properties and asked to review the location for a virtual tour. It was clear upon our arrival on a beautifully sunny day that the estate would benefit from a Tangent360 virtual tour. Standard photography, notoriously low quality in the property world, would not do this location justice and potential viewers cannot understand and experience the exquisite grounds through static images alone.

Tangent360 were commissioned to create a fully featured virtual tour of the Estate to illustrate and inform potential tenants/owners. On a fresh sunny morning we visited the Estate and shot 12 high resolution panoramas at key locations to form the virtual tour. During the shoot we met many of the existing tenants who were very friendly and intersted in our work and we experienced the community environment for ourselves.

We finished off the shoot by capturing some still images that we could use as part of a slideshow feature that we had planned to include in the virtual tour. The finished slideshow can be triggered directly in the tour and displays the beautiful images using subtle animation that suits the subject matter.

During that time we have been very busy with projects for our clients but we have been returning to the cathedral regularly to build up the most comprehensive tour that we have ever done. Many new processes and techniques have been developed whilst working on this tour. The space has proved to be a technical challenge to photograph effectively due to the lighting within the cathedral. We have overcome this challenge and are now very happy with the panoramas created so far.

Features or the new virtual tour include:

Over 100 high resolution panoramas

Gigapixel panoramas of key areas allowing deep zooming into key features.

Interactive special features that provide interesting education info in a novel way.

A brand new, powerful and intuitive navigation system.

All created to the usual VERY high standards that Tangent 360 always provide.

The project has taken on a life of its own and we have also started development of a new website dedicated to the Cathedral virtual tour which can be found at http://www.liverpoolcathedral360.com. There is a countdown on the page and we are working furiously to have everything ready in time.

Watch this space for further updates.

The Virtual Showroom lets website visitors browse around the showroom as if they were there in person. We developed special features to allow users to open cupboard doors and drawers. We also added flyout interactive elements that focussed on worktops and handles.

Since the launch of the new website and Virtual Showroom, Noname Kitchens have had a great response, very positive feedback and most importantly: some new customers.

To celebrate the launch of the new website and the fact that the business has been creating high quality kicthens in Liverpool for 35 years, Capricorn has commissioned the front cover of the property magazine Your Move. Inside the magazine there is an article describing the thinking behind the new website launch and the creation of the unique Virtual Showroom by Tangent360.

View the front page of the magazine here and the actual article here.

The magazine is free of charge and is distributed throughout the Merseyside and Wirral area from newsagents and other outlets. Read by property buyers and sellers in the business and residential sectors the magazine has become the “Property Bible” in this area.

Tangent 360 would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Capricorn Kitchens on their 35th anniversary and hope they continue on to provide their reknowned products and legendary service for many years to come.

We are proud to announce that we are finalising the integration and testing of a new interface that will allow our high quality panoramas to be displayed on the iPad and iPhone.

The framework on which this interface is built runs on the Mobile Safari and in the Mac Safari Browsers utilising CSS 3D Transforms. This new features will allow us to develop exciting new products for the mobile market. Sales reps and estate agents could really benefit from mobile panos and virtual tours allowing them to display environments to their customers by simply pulling out their iPad or iPhone.

Whilst not currently offering the same rich featureset of our normal Flash based panos and virtual tours the new interface will provide fast rendering through the famous Apple touchscreen. Another limitation is the size of the pano itself; they need to be kept smaller than Flash based panos or else the safari browser will just crash. Gigapixel panos won’t be seen on these devices just yet but hopefully this is just the beginning.

We are planning to convert a couple of our existing panos for the iPad/iPhone in the next few weeks, when our current workload permits!

Keep an eye on the blog for news on this exciting new development.

Liverpool’s iconic Anglican Cathedral will be opened up to the world via a Tangent 360 Virtual Tour.

Built on St. James Mount and visible for miles around the Cathedral Church of Christ is an awe inspiring sight both inside and out. It holds a number of records such as the highest and heaviest peal of church bells in the world, the Grand Organ is the largest operational church organ in the world with a staggering 10,268 pipes.

The inside of the cathedral is stunning and the first time you enter, the scale is overwhelming especially when you look up. From the massive elaborate stained glass windows to the vaulted ceilings, there is so much detail to take in that even after few visits there is always new things to see, places to explore.

We’re not going to reveal the extent of the project now but there will be some totally new special features and multiple gigapixel panoramas.

Watch this space!

Today we finished work on the virtual tour for a holiday home in Chillington, Devon. Cutlands Barn is a traditional barn which was converted to a VERY high standard last year.

We were commissioned by the owner to produce a virtual tour for use on his new website and to be linked to from holiday booking sites such as Welcome Cottages and Blue Chip Vacations. We shot a pano in each room in the barn and linked each one with hotspots and thumbnail links.

Each pano was shot 3 times -2ev, 0, +2ev to allow some HDR processing if required. We found that full HDR was producing an over-baked look and opted to perform some subtle masking on the windows which were extremely blown out.

We are happy with the results and so is the customer, we look forward to any further feedback through the blog.

It was built between 1924 and 1932 for Alfred Holt’s Blue Funnel Line, the architect was Herbert Rowse. It was designed to be converted into a warehouse if needed and replaced an earlier building of the same name. Construction cost £1.25 million.

During World War II it was badly damaged and was restored to re-open in 1952.

The production of the pano was very challenging from the actual shooting of almost 600 images (three exposure levels for every shot), to the image processing and stitching which was particularly difficult due to the repeating patterns on the ornate ceilings. We feel the effort was worth while and plan to promote Gigapixel quality to our customers who want the best quality for their product.

We’d love to hear your feedback about the pano. Please leave a message.
